Genere: Action, Drama
A true Thalapathy style action flick….
The Diwali release from Kollywood this year is Thalapathy Vijay starer Mersal, where the actor will be playing a triple role. Directed by Atlee the film is semi-period action drama with the female star cast of Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha Akkineni, and Nithya Menen. The film has been a part of controversies before and after release. But being a Vijay release will the movie proved to be a mass entertainer or gone with a wind, let’s explore with Mersal Movie Review……
Officer Rathnavel (Sathyaraj) has successfully captured Dr. Maaran (Vijay) or 5 Rs Dr (as this the fees he charges from his patients). But while interrogating him to find out the locations of 4 people he has kidnaped a lot is being unveiled about unethical medical practices and the profit people are making in the name medical treatment. But to Rathnavel’s surprise mystery also unfold around Vetri (again Vijay) a great magician and man responsible for the murder in Paris. But before the whole mystery can be solved comes Dr. Daniel Arockiyaraj chasing Dr. Maaran hunting for his answer to find out the connection between Dr. Maraan and Dr. Daniels past terror that is Vetrimaaran (Vijay) a leader of Madurai village in 1979…
A lot is happening in the politics of Tamil Nadu. With Kamal Hassan planning his political party, Sir Rajnikanth spoken about his interest in politics and AIADMK may crown Ajith Kumar or Vijay as their next political leader since both were close to Late Jayalalithaa, it’s clear that Tamil Nadu is looking for its next political heir to come and lead the people of the state. Recently, with Jallikattu protest it is further clear that none of the current parties are coming up as the hero and same is the recent Tollywood movies trend which is showcasing every hero as a new leader.
In a year this the second movie of Thalapathy Vijay depicting about faults in medical system and negligence towards local people of medical practitioners and government. Where his last movie Bairavaa explored the exploited world of medical studies and students being fooled in the name of medical colleges, Mersal is clearly an aim to bring in notice the unhealthy practices medical world is doing including making a simple child delivery as cesarean surgery or trying to cost the fortune for simple surgeries.
The movie is a treat for Vijay fan’s and any dedicated fan of Thalapathy will be more than happy to see how their superhero is been projected with fighting for good and defeating the bad practices even by challenging the system. The constant comparison with late leader MGR is a true sign how Vijay is been showcased as the real hero and not just reel hero for the people of Tamil Nadu.
Off course the movie has comedy relief by Vadivelu, suspense hold created by Sathyaraj and glamour quotient by Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha Akkini, and Nithya Menen. But the man who could truely stand in front of Vijay’s stardom and Robinhood image is the bady villain played by S. J Surya. That’s a chemistry which went perfectly for film making it a mass entertainer.
Irrespective of controversies the movie is surrounded with including the recent BJP argument that how the movie can comment about GST, it will truly come as one of the entertaining movies of Kollywood of this year.
Overall it’s a Vijay movie with the hero, Robinhood or thalapathy winning over bad in larger than lifestyle action and iconic attitude.
Being says: Enjoy the style of 3 Vijay’s in one movie
Being-o-meter : 3.5 (Out of5 )
Justification: All for Vijay and his style attitude
